Day 1: An adventure from Hamburg to Sweden
The BSC Winter Rally began at 11:30 AM with the departure from Hamburg – of course, only after studying the roadbook, which we received at 9:30 AM – to recognize the first challenges. On the first day, driving on the highways was allowed to quickly reach the north. Our first stop was at Karin’s in Haurup (D), where we picked up a German piece of String. At the beginning in Hamburg, we received a red thread – which was later exchanged for two Po-rutscher (Butt-Slider??) at Patricia’s in Kollund (DK). Once a day for 7 days, it is allowed to exchange with the goal to have a kind of sled for a later challenge.
In Kollund, we collected a stone and some water from the Baltic Sea before making a stop at Annies Kiosk to eat hot dogs. We then continued to Rødekro (DK) to Ulrik, where we picked up a piece of scandinavian iron.
THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SPONTANIOUS HELP 😊
Our journey then took us over the Little Belt Bridge, the Great Belt Bridge, and the Öresund Bridge to Sweden. At Ales Stenar, we had a special experience: in complete darkness, we walked 700 meters with headlamps across fields to reach the monument. There, we found a Swedish branch and attached stone and iron to it with the thread. With this branch, we circled a stone of the monument and took photos – our first challenge was thus mastered.
In the middle of the monument, we poured the collected Baltic Sea water over our artwork – this is an old Viking tradition and is supposed to bring travellers good luck. We then made our way to Kristianstad, where we planned to spend the first night. On this day, we covered a total of 716 kilometres and reached our destination at 10:30 PM.
For the next few days, long and exhausting stages are planned, as we need to quickly reach the north. However, there are further challenges to be solved along the way, which will make our adventure even more exciting.
