Day 5 – 26-02-2025
Today we want to go to the Lofoten! We woke up to the most beautiful sunrise and also found out that we could add a breakfast buffet at the motel – what’s not to like ☺️. The ferry leaves at 9:15, so we left relaxed at 8:30. We met two other teams at the ferry (one had stayed in the cabin next to us). It was a relaxed, calm crossing – those who get seasick will know the feeling of happiness when it doesn’t happen! Painterpooh tested having an earplug in one ear – it’s supposed to help, and apparently, it worked. At 10:15, we got off the ferry in Lødingen and immediately set off into the beautiful landscape!

Today everything is a bit more relaxed – we first want to head a bit south and then enjoy the Lofoten heading north in a relaxed manner – today and tomorrow will be pure nature spectacle here on the beautiful islands. Our southern destination was Vik near Uttakleiv – supposed to be one of the most beautiful bays in the Lofoten – although everything here is beautiful! The weather is cooperating today, and we are enjoying the tour.

Heading north, we then stopped at the Buknes Church from 1324 – a super beautiful wooden church – wooden churches are very common here, but some stand out from the crowd. In Leknes, we had a late lunch at the Kaffebar – super delicious warm sandwiches and coffee. After that, we visited the medieval church in Borge from 1335 – almost the same age as Buknes, but totally different buildings. We took panoramic photos on Vestvågøya and drone shots along the route. A short stop at the Gimsøya Bridge for more panoramic photos, but the sun was already too low here – a few more nature photos in Klepstad – this time also with a boat 😉.
A photo of the Lofoten Cathedral was, of course, a must. Our last stop was Svolvær, where we finished early today, enjoyed the evening, had a cozy meal, and of course, maintained the blog 😉. Enjoy the photos!
Today 1 hour ferry, and despite only 276 km, still 8.5 hours in the car. And tomorrow we continue north with the goal of Tromsø.
