Day of Children’s Hospice Work

February 10th marks the Day of Children’s Hospice Work, an important day dedicated to raising awareness about the invaluable services provided by children’s hospices. This day has been observed annually since its inception on February 10, 2006, by the German Children’s Hospice Association.

The association is a nationwide professional organization representing the interests of numerous ambulatory and inpatient children’s and youth hospice services. Its goal is to strengthen the structures and work of children’s and youth hospices. Additionally, the association raises public awareness about the life situations, dying, and death of children, adolescents, and young adults with life-limiting illnesses.

The primary goal of this day is to highlight the essential support that children’s hospices services offer. It aims to bring attention to the emotional, psychological, and practical assistance these hospices provide, ensuring that families do not face their challenges alone.

A significant symbol of this day is the green ribbon. The green ribbon represents hope and solidarity with the children and families supported by hospice care. To show our support and raise awareness, we have attached a green ribbon to our rallye vehicle. On our journey to the North Cape, this ribbon will serve as a beacon, drawing attention to the critical work of children’s hospices and the need for continued support.

Our Personal Journey

Our participation in the Baltic Sea Circle Rallye Winter Edition is driven by a deep personal connection to the cause. As Team Insanire, we have always been passionate about making a difference and supporting those in need. The possibility of combining our love for adventure with a meaningful cause is a great motivation for us. As we navigate the challenging routes to the North Cape, we carry with us the stories and hopes of countless families who rely on these vital services.

Support the Cause

We invite you to join us in recognizing and supporting the incredible efforts of children’s hospices. Your donation can make a significant difference in the lives of these children and their families. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps provide the care and support they need during the most challenging times.

Our support and donations go to the Ambulant Children’s and Youth Hospice Service at Katharinen Hospice in Flensburg.

This service is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to children, adolescents and their families. They also offer extensive support to kindergartens and schools on these topics. Established in June 2004, the service currently has 42 volunteers and 4 full-time staff members. Volunteers are specially trained to support families through illness, death, and grief, focusing on the individual needs of the children and adolescents.
