Today, we want to give more details about the Baltic Sea Circle Rally and delve into the planned route.

Baltic Sea Circle Rally

The Rally has been around since 2011 and is currently held twice a year: once in late winter (end of February) and once around midsummer. As you know, we are participating in the Winter Edition, which adds an extra thrill for us. Snow and ice landscapes, combined with the rugged Scandinavian coast and the chance to witness the Northern Lights, are certainly highlights. While it may not be extremely cold along the coasts, temperatures in the middle of Lapland can drop to minus 25 degrees celsius, and at the North Cape, an icy wind usually makes the perceived temperature significantly lower.

Start and End

The rally starts and ends at the Hamburg Fish Market. Although the routes are not strictly predetermined by the organizer, Superlative Adventure Club, and each team is free to plan their own route, there are fixed points where we will meet other participants. These include the legendary ice drifting in Sweden and the convoy drive to the North Cape. Additionally, we will have daily tasks to complete, which will be given to us in the roadbook. We will only receive the roadbook at the start of the rally, so we cannot make detailed tour plans in advance.

Route

The journey initially leads through Denmark to Sweden, with the first fixed meeting point for ice drifting in Vilhelmina. From there, we will travel through the Lofoten Islands to Tromsø and up to the North Cape. After reaching the northernmost point, we will head through the Finnish part of Lapland, east of the Baltic Sea, to Helsinki, and then take the ferry to Tallinn. From there, we will drive through the Baltic States and Poland before hopefully returning to Hamburg after 16 days and over 7.500km with lots of memories.

Stay tuned for updates from our journey in our travel diary. We are excited to take you along on this interactive adventure, make sure to follow us on Instagram as well!
